Baby Blessings

Reverend Lydia Trettis creates and performs distinctive baby blessing and
naming ceremonies. Together with the family, she helps in the creation of a
ceremony that is personal and meaningful for them. The baby blessing or naming
ceremony has several purposes: First of all to celebrate the arrival of the child in a
meaningful way. The ceremony allows the parent/s to introduce their child to its
community of family and friends and to be blessed by them all.

The blessing or naming ceremony will include whatever elements are right for you
Nothing is essential or prescribed for the blessing. Lydia will discuss the both the
practical and spiritual desires of the couple for the child’s blessing ceremony. It
should be noted that the service can be offered for children as well as babies. If
your child is older, he or she can even offer input to the creation of the service. The
aim of the service is to speak and honour your truth.

The service can include: music, dance, sharing from the congregation, prayers,
annointing with water and oil, candle ceremony -- or whatever you wish!

		Meeting with parents to discuss blessing and plans
		Consultation to choose the relevant words, music, ritual elements for the
		service.
		Whether the ceremony is going to be traditional or created in full by the
		family, Lydia can assist in shaping the service.
		Meeting via telephone or email to review the service and make any
		necessary changes. An order of service will then be prepared.
